Scaffold hire
We hire scaffolding across Cambridge for homeowners, builders and commercial sites. Every job starts with a free site visit and a written quote that states the hire period up front, so nothing changes if the work runs on. Where the scaffold has to stand on a footpath or road, we arrange the Cambridgeshire County Council highways licence as part of the job.

Permits
If any part of the scaffold sits on a public footpath, road or verge, the county council requires a highways licence before it goes up. That covers most terraced frontages in the city and anything on a shop or office street. Scaffolding that stays entirely inside your own boundary usually does not need one.
We apply for the licence on your behalf and build the lead time into the start date we give you, so you are not chasing the council or guessing at forms.
Free site visit and a written quote. Mon to Fri, 7:00am to 8:00pm.

Heritage
A large part of central Cambridge is listed, in a conservation area, or both. That usually rules out drilling ties into the face of the building, so the scaffold is designed to stand independently, taking its stability from its own base and bracing rather than from the fabric. Where ties are permitted, positions are agreed first so they land in mortar joints that can be made good.
We are happy to work alongside your architect, conservation officer or main contractor where listed building consent applies. For awkward structures see our specialist scaffolding.
City centre
Cambridge is a difficult city to scaffold and an easy one to get wrong. Tight terraced frontages with no side access, streets that cannot take a lorry at the wrong hour, cycle traffic, and shops that have to keep trading while the work goes on above them.
Where the public passes under or beside the scaffold we build protection fans and pedestrian routes so the footpath stays open and the frontage stays usable.

Prices
Scaffolding is priced per job rather than off a rate card. What moves the number:

Why Priority
Building the company from the ground up means you deal with people who have actually erected the scaffold, not a call centre.
Design drawings, calculations and RAMS supplied for the site file, so your start date is never held up by admin.
CHAS and SafeContractor accredited through SSIP, £5m public liability and CISRS trained scaffolders.
On time, tidy, and off site when the job is done. That is why most of our work comes from repeat customers.

Straight answers
If your scaffolding needs to stand on a public footpath, road or verge, Cambridgeshire County Council requires a highways licence. As a local, family-run firm we arrange the Cambridgeshire County Council permit on your behalf as part of the job, so you do not have to deal with the council paperwork yourself. Scaffolding that stays entirely within your own boundary usually does not need a permit.
Yes. Cambridge has a large number of listed and period properties and we regularly erect scaffolding on them. We use protective measures to avoid damage to historic brickwork, render and stonework, and we are happy to work alongside your architect, conservation officer or main contractor where listed building consent applies.
For most domestic jobs in and around Cambridge we can survey and erect within a few working days, and we will always give you a clear date when you book. Where a highways licence is needed, the council lead time is built into that date.
As long as the job needs. The hire period is stated in the written quote, so there are no surprises if the work runs on.
Usually we work from the front or from a side return. On a terrace with no side access we agree the route with you before the day, whether that is through the property or over a neighbour’s ground with their permission.
